“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
On this day honoring the legacy and impact of Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded that complacency is not an option. Passivity is not an option. We are reminded that the only way to push progress in this great nation is through constant, active participation and involvement in our instituted democracy.
But most of all, we are reminded to remain hopeful.
“Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of misunderstanding will be lifted from our fear-drenched communities, and in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.”
